WIETA Membership
There
are different categories of members, and each category will make
different contributions and have different obligations in assisting
the association meet its aims and objectives.
General Membership
In
joining the association, all members agree to be bound by the
constitution of the association, and agree to abide by and to
support WIETA’s aims and objectives.
We
hope that all members will maintain a continued interest in the
working of the association; will provide input and make
recommendations on best practice in implementing the code and into
the effective working of the association; and, where applicable,
will nominate and elect members from their membership category to
represent their interests onto the Executive Committee.
Audit Fees
Audit costs will vary depending upon the size of the workplace (the
larger the workplace, the more auditors are involved, or the audit
might need two days instead of one). Normally, however, audits cost
less than ten thousand Rands. The member will be responsible for
payment of these costs, and the travel and accommodation costs
(where necessary) in conducting each audit.
Due to the special dispensation regarding International Trade
Agreements between RSA and the European Union as applied
specifically to the RSA wine products export market in the UK (the
CCT money), WIETA is able to subsidise the audit costs to grape and
wine producers by 50%. This subsidy will stand for as long as WIETA
receives the CCT funding.
50% of the audit fee is payable before each audit is conducted. We
will send you an invoice for this amount prior to the audit. No
audit will be conducted until we have received this deposit. The
final invoice for the balance will be sent to the audited member
with the audit report. This will set out the actual cost of the
audit (including travel costs). The balance is payable within 14
days of receipt of this final invoice.

Please note:
| 1. |
Travel and accommodation costs are excluded,
as these will vary. WIETA will explore the most cost
effective option for members in deciding upon the number of
auditors and audit days required, without compromising on
the robustness of the audit process. |
| 2. |
For producers who can show that they produce
grapes for export wines to the UK, or wine or wine
products for export to the UK, the audit costs are
50% subsidised by WIETA, due to the 2002 international
trade agreement between RSA and EU, and the return of saved
import duties by UK retailers in terms of that agreement to
RSA for wine marketing and WIETA funding. (This is called
the Common Customs Tarrif money – CCT). |
| 3. |
Where audited entities have more than one
site, WIETA will determine the audit duration on the basis
of minimising time and financial costs to producers, whilst
not cutting corners on our standard audit methods. Precisely
how long such an audit will last will depend on the total
number of employees (temporary and permanent, whether
directly or indirectly employed) at each site, the
travelling distances between sites, and the number of
auditors in the team. The most practical solution to audit
duration will be found through consultation with the site or
exporter involved in the program. |
